Shrug (Smith Machine)

Also known as: Shrug (Smith Machine).

Standing shrug with an overhand grip on a Smith-machine bar travelling along its guides in front of the thighs.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Set the Smith bar around thigh height with safety stops just below the starting position. Stand upright with feet about hip width.
  2. Take a shoulder-width overhand grip, unhook the bar and hold it in front of the thighs with long arms.
  3. Raise only the shoulders toward the ears. Keep the elbows long and do not roll the shoulders.
  4. Lower under control and fully engage the hooks after the set.
