Get VytrixBench Press (Dumbbell)
Using dumbbells, press two free weights up from a lying position. The chest, triceps and front of your shoulders work together; you control each arm separately.
Also known as: Bench Press (Dumbbell).
Dumbbell variation of bench press
How to perform this exercise
- Lie on a flat bench holding two dumbbells, feet firmly planted.
- Bend the elbows and lower to a comfortable chest stretch without rolling the shoulders forward.
- Press both weights up with straight wrists, avoiding a collision between the dumbbells.
What are you paying attention to?
First ensure a stable position with your feet on the floor and your back on the bench. Keep your wrists in line with your forearms and gently lower the weights next to your chest.
Common mistakes
- Choose a weight that you can also control when taking and leaving the starting position.
- Don't let one arm lead the other and don't slam the dumbbells together at the top.
Variants and your logbook
You can practice the same movement with less weight. A barbell links the arms via one bar; a push-up uses your body weight. Always compare your progress within the same variant.
