Deficit Push-Up (Dumbbell)

Also known as: Deficit Push-Up (Dumbbell), Deficit Press-Up (Dumbbell).

Bodyweight push-up gripping two stable non-rolling dumbbells to allow a controlled chest descent below hand height; the dumbbells serve as handles, not added lifting load.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Place two stable hex dumbbells slightly wider than shoulder width and grip their handles with palms facing inward.
  2. Step back into a long-arm high plank on the toes and check that the dumbbells cannot roll.
  3. Bend the elbows to lower the chest between the dumbbells through a comfortable depth, keeping the torso aligned.
  4. Press through the handles to return. Track repetitions; dumbbell mass is not additional exercise load here.
