Wall Towel Lateral Raise (Bodyweight)

Also known as: Wall Towel Lateral Raise (Bodyweight).

Unilateral bodyweight shoulder abduction with a bent elbow supported by a sliding towel against a wall.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Stand side-on beside a smooth, sturdy wall. Place a folded towel between the wall and the outside of the bent elbow.
  2. Set both feet close together slightly away from the wall and lean toward it as one unit. Let the free arm hang at your side.
  3. Press through the upper arm and raise the elbow sideways toward shoulder height. Let the towel slide upward as the torso moves away from the wall.
  4. Slide the elbow down under control to return to the same slight side lean. Keep the feet fixed and change sides after the set.

Tips

  • Start with a small lean and let the towel slide without losing elbow contact.
