Standing Hip Extension, Ankle Roller (Machine)

Also known as: Standing Hip Extension, Ankle Roller (Machine).

Standing unilateral hip extension against an ankle roller on a dedicated glute machine.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Adjust the ankle roller and chest support to fit. Stand on the support platform with the supporting leg and hold the fixed handles.
  2. Place the roller against the back of the working ankle. Start with that knee bent and the torso resting steadily against the support.
  3. Drive the working leg backward from the hip, allowing the knee to extend gradually. Keep the pelvis square and avoid arching the lower back.
  4. Return the roller slowly without dropping the stack. Switch legs after the set.
