Alternating Step Taps (Bodyweight)

Also known as: Alternating Step Taps (Bodyweight).

Alternating low-step foot taps: lift one foot to tap the first step, return it to the floor and change sides while the supporting foot stays on the floor.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Stand in front of the bottom step of a stable low staircase or a secure low platform. Start with both feet on the floor, knees relaxed and torso upright.
  2. Lift one knee and lightly tap the top of the first step with that foot. Keep the supporting foot on the floor instead of stepping your whole body up.
  3. Return the foot to the floor and repeat on the other side. Alternate without jumping and keep the torso controlled.
  4. Count each contact with the step as one repetition, so one left tap and one right tap equal two repetitions.
