Seated Calf Raise (Smith Machine)

Also known as: Seated Calf Raise (Smith Machine).

A seated calf raise with a guided Smith bar and elevated forefeet.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Place a bench inside the Smith frame. Sit with knees near ninety degrees, forefeet on a low stable block and heels lowered freely behind the edge. Rest the padded Smith bar across the distal thighs above the knees and steady it with both hands; set safety stops.
  2. Raise both heels while the forefeet stay planted and the guided bar rises with the thighs. Lower slowly to the same comfortable heel-drop start, keeping the bar off the kneecaps.
