Close Grip Push-Up (Bodyweight)

Also known as: Close Grip Push-Up (Bodyweight), Close Grip Press-Up (Bodyweight).

Push-up with palms closer than shoulder width, fingers facing forward and elbows tracking near the ribs. Hands stay separate rather than forming a diamond.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Place your palms slightly inside shoulder width on the floor, fingers forward and hands separated.
  2. Extend the legs behind you and support the body on the forefeet. Keep head, trunk and legs aligned.
  3. Bend the elbows close to the ribs and lower the chest under control between the hands.
  4. Press the floor away to return to the high plank without letting the hips sag.

Tips

  • Choose a hand spacing that allows comfortable wrist and shoulder movement.
