Bulgarian Split Squat (Bodyweight)

Also known as: Bulgarian Split Squat (Bodyweight).

Rear-foot-elevated split squat using bodyweight only, with the rear instep resting on a stable chair.

How to perform this exercise

  1. Place a stable chair behind you and rest one instep on the seat. Set the front foot well ahead of the chair.
  2. Start tall with the front leg nearly straight, hips facing forward and most of your weight on the front foot.
  3. Bend the front leg and lower the rear knee. Keep the front heel down and let the knee track in line with the toes.
  4. Press through the whole front foot to rise. Keep the rear foot supported and change legs after the set.

Tips

  • Use a non-slip chair that cannot tip; choose a stance and depth you can control.
